Sangam 2007

Yeah I was worried that I didn't do anything .. but then I realized this is one thing which I did.

As part of the South Asian community we organized this event to generate awareness about India and help India build a better image here in Canadian community. Well I wont say the event was as successful as we would have hoped it to be, but nevertheless its the biggest event organized by a student body in Schulich (yeah that my school, www.schulich.yorku.ca)

The idea was to project India as a place for sustainable growth, reason being, we are business school folks so need to talk about business and our school is one of the best in sustainability and strategy. So there you go, growth and sustainability for both Indian and Canadian firms comes from India.

Yes Yes I am still alive

yeah, been sometime since my last post. Actually lot of time, well I was busy u know, busy doing nothing :)

Exactly 2 months ago i made that post while sitting in accounting class. As obvious I was not getting whatever Mr Kong was trying to say. So thought it would be better to do some english writing. Anyways now the classes are over, we bid farewell to Mr Kong and his colleagues over a week back and now exam are facing me. Obviously I am trying to get out of the sight but looks like no other option but to face them :(

Anyways, its just 2 exams and then I will be 1/4th maniggger .. as a haryana jaat might call me :P thats assuming I don't crack an F anywhere.

So what I was up to in last 2 months? hmm will have to think how I managed to waste so much time. For one there were loads of assignments during march, and project work and all that crap. But even then 2 months is a lot for someone like me who doesn't believe any assignment is deserves to get more than 1 night of my attention :)

Hmm now I really will have to think what I did, I will keep thinking, probably by morning I will have the answers in another post.

TATA Birla

For Long they have been the flag bearer for India in the industry. For long it was just the two houses, money personified. TATA Birla was the name for the riches.

But then came the reliance and Ambani got added, then the economic reforms, IT, Outsourcing everything booming and people started forgetting who is TATA. It was the time for Infosys, Wipro, Airtel etc etc etc .. and people thought power is shifting.

I took just one week, just a week to come and stamp the authority back to people's minds. In one shot, Tata's came back from behind to win Corus for 11.3 Bn$ which btw is more that 5 times Infy's 2005 revenue. So what should Birla do, buy some other company ofcourse, so the birlas go and buy Noevelis in Canada for 6 Bn$.

So 2 buys worth 18 Billion dollor, amount that the likes of Infy and wipro will takes years to EARN. So what does it show, nothing dont ask me this, I am no finance Guru who can give interpretations of numbers.

What I can say is that this certainly shows the growing confidence of Indian companies. Tatas and birlas both have been getting more and more aggressive with passing time, something which they always lacked. Thats something good, recently Tata tea bought a soft drink company in US, so we can see a trend, today Tatas disclosed their plan to increase their stake in VSNL. So from where they get all this money, most probably loan so what my pea sized brain can understand is that borrowing money in this much amount can mean just one thing, they know they can pay it back .. and thats some CONFIDENCE.

So the class is coming to and end and so is this post, so keep reading and feel happy that India is getting better ... may take long to become good, but the confidence can make us reach there ... lets hope we will someday be GOOD in absolute terms ... enjoy and be confident we can do it ... let hope we will ..

My morning's target :), for morning class the objective for me is to see this as soon as I can, as I am always late :)

Thats what I will be in some days .. its been 10 days since my last post but feels just like y'day. But I am loving it ..

so many things to do, no time free to worry or wonder about anything ...

So who is this juggler, remember the old magic shows, the same guy. Here I am having to handle a host of different things in the limited time of 24X7. I used to wonder how people do so many things at one time, but its not that hard after all. Though I am not doing all of the above with equal vigor but if I can do 70% of the above most of others can do all of them with ease. I see some guys here who even work apart from the above and I just wonder. They must have some enthu to keep going like this.

So thats all for the time being, next week is going to be even tougher so I am just hoping I will complete everything on time and with decent quality. If I do, I will see u later .. till then Adios .. zinda rahe to fir milenge ..

Nick Name

Well, its funny actually, people have started making fun of the name of my blog :D .. no no i dont mind it actually its just that the name says biker and unfortunately I don't have one at the moment :( For the time being, people have started calling me a 'Biker without a bike'

But not to worry, I will have someday, and then 'I' will drrrriiiivvvveeeee :)

Its Painful ..

Don't worry , I am not hurt and no neither I have broken up with some :) well you need someone to break up anyways:)

Its about this cold here, Toronto is like a deep freezer off late. My today's venture to school and back turned out to be quite a cold one. It was -14 c today and with wind chill it was -23 while I attempted to walk back from school. My face froze, hand froze, ears were paining and I stopped, took out the guards for everything to brave this cold. Unfortunately I didn't had anything for the face and it froze literally, had to massage it every few mins to avoid the pain.

So this became the coldest weather I had encountered in my whole life. Earlier the min was -17 or so which I faced in Chicago, thankfully I had a car then. But here, thats one hell of a problem, I had to walk the whole 1.5 KMs in that wind. Thanks to Bhabhi The Great who made me buy that snow jacket in Chicago. I don't think all my warm clothes together will be equivalent for that one jacket.

So thats a day, another milestone reached. While I was just cursing Toronto weather I realized that for past 4-5 years during my time in Chennai and Dallas, I was always looking for cold weather. Looks like God is overpaying for the lack of winter for past 5 years in one shot :)

But I am Happy .. experiencing different things is what this life so good, so keep driving ....

A Start

So after a long time, finally I have started this blog. Don't really know what to write at this time so let's start with me.

I am Aashish, background is a long story, so we will deal with that later. For now name would do and as you see, what I am writing is abstract. And that's what this blog is all about.

Professionally I am something, which doesn't really matter here. Personally I am a biker by heart, that means I love thrill all kinds of even in work :) my managers used to have trouble managing me. I love music, bikes, cars, gadgets, browsing, reading, movies both hindi and english, sports and many other stuff. I am such a lovable guy :)

So its going to be a place where I can place my thoughts and experiences, about the things I love and what I experience. Fortunately or Unfortunately, you will be the one to suffer :)
